Obstetrics in Singapore is centered on providing all-round care to a pregnant woman during pregnancy (prenatal), labour and delivery, as well as after delivery (postnatal). An obstetrician is trained to deliver babies safely, whether vaginally or surgically, as well as provide specialised care for high-risk pregnancies and miscarriages. At our obstetrics centre in Singapore, women and their babies will receive personalized medical care and advice to ensure that the chances of having a smooth pregnancy and delivery are optimized.
The Health & Fertility Centre for Women is dedicated to providing comprehensive and personalised healthcare services to every woman. It specialises in the management of all gynaecological problems, such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and more. Our Medical Director, Dr Kelly Loi, has close to two decades of experience in gynaecology to ensure that only the best possible care is provided.
Infertility is generally defined as the inability to conceive after 1 year of actively trying (having frequent, unprotected sexual intercourse).
It should be noted that 80-90% of couples successfully conceive within a year of actively trying. However, fertility declines with age. Studies have shown that the probability of conception in a month falls from 25% in women in their early thirties to just 8% in their late thirties.
As a general guide, if you are above 35 years old and have been actively trying to conceive for over six months, or if you are under 35 years old and have been actively trying to conceive for over a year; it is time to see a specialist experienced in fertility treatment.
Our fertility clinic specialises in the provision of evidence-based fertility treatments that are tailored to each patient. Our fertility doctor is skilled in performing assisted reproductive technology (ART) techniques such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and intrauterine insemination (IUI).
Cancer treatment can impair fertility because 1. Patients may require surgery to remove their reproductive organs 2. Patients may need chemo or radiotherapy which can reduce the ovarian reserve
With advances in cancer treatment, cancer survival is increasing and for cancer survivors, quality of life will be important with fertility being an important aspect.
